I love this time of year because it symbolizes new beginnings and transition. It’s a time we slow down to reflect and also fill up with hope for all the possibilities the next year holds. This period of time is when I’ve made some of my best decisions.

In January 2015 I began my doodle journey where I committed to doodle every day for the next 365 days. This project helped me be honest with myself which led to discovering my voice. My doodles didn’t always look as pretty as they do now, and quite scary at times to be honest. Swipe left to see a few from the very beginning. But through this process I began to understand the things that pained me and the things that brought me joy. I was becoming more self-aware and I learned that consistency and showing up even when you don’t feel like it, can lead to BIG and everlasting change. I understood the power of choice. At the end of that year, I was living in New York for 3 months, jobless, and it was the third city I’ve moved to for a fresh start. I felt more lost, confused, hopeless than ever before. I wanted to give up and move back to my parents’ home.

But then comes January 4, 2016, I attended @libertychurchbrooklyn’s first Sunday service of the year and I found Home. God led me to a place where I met Jesus and began to understand His love for me. That was the day I made the decision to follow Jesus for the rest of my days.

Now on January 5, 2019 I reflect on all that not only has happened this last year but in the last three years of my journey following Jesus. I am found. I am healed. I am saved. I am given a real Love. I thank Jesus, for washing my sins away for I’m living life forgiven and free. I’m able to have courage to dream big dreams, expect wild miracles because I know what God has done and what He will continue to do. When bad things happen, I’m able to find peace, comfort and joy. The successes I shared in my 2018 Review post a few days ago were not results of my own doing. It was because of what Jesus has done for me. Because of Him I’m walking into 2019 capable and confident.

If you’re feeling lost, hopeless and desiring change for your life I want to encourage you to keep holding on. What I found is for you too. I pray you’ll consider giving Liberty Church a year.
